New feature: Publication Tracker
(Note: This feature was developed over several sprints with the latest update deployed on October 10.)
We’re excited to introduce the new Publication Tracker. It allows providers to view users’ publications and link them to their resources and services.
What it does
Provider admins can scan ORCID to find publications from their users. This includes anyone who has booked a resource or requested a service (listed under Admin > Users). Only users with an ORCID iD saved in the system are included in the scan.
Collect ORCID iDs
- Users can add their ORCID iD directly in their profile.
- Organization admins can add ORCID iDs to user profiles manually or import them in bulk.
- ORCID iDs can also be fetched automatically at login (contact us to enable this).
- This requires the organization’s identity provider to provide ORCID iDs as part of user attributes.
Enforce ORCID iDs
- Provider admins can set ORCID iD as a requirement for booking a resource (in the resource options).
- Once enabled, only users with an ORCID iD can make bookings.
- Exceptions can be handled via the ORCID iD exception list in the Edit Provider dialog.
ORCID iDs are displayed in relevant places throughout the platform for transparency and consistency.
Scanning & publications
- Provider admins can run publication scans going back to 01.01.2023.
- Publications are listed together with the user accounts they were matched to.
User view
After a scan, users can see their publications under Dashboard > Publications.
Users can:
- Assign publications to providers they have access to.
- Mark publications as “No provider involved.”
Users will receive monthly reminders to review and assign their publications.
Admin view
Admins can access Admin > Publications, which includes a column for linked providers.
They can:
- Remove their own provider from a publication.
- Filter the list to hide unassigned or unrelated publications.
- Export publication lists for reporting and analysis.
Summary
The Publication Tracker helps make research contributions visible. It connects publications with contributing providers, showcasing the impact and value of their resources.
