The delay mainly depends on the calendar's sync behavior. Each calendar handles iCal feed refresh rates differently. Apple calendar behaves more responsively than, for example, Google or Outlook calendars.
You can try to delete and re-add the feed. If you are using the Apple calendar, you can try to shorten the refresh interval.
